For over twenty-five years Michael's has been in business, reupholstering, slipcovering, and building new custom upholstered furniture for the residents and interior designers of Marin County, San Francisco, the East Bay and the Napa Sonoma Wine Country.

The showroom at Michael's Custom Built Inc. offers over 400 sample books from most of the major fabric companies. The design staff is familiar with the selection and can help you find just what you are looking for. Choosing fabric for your furniture can be a major decision. Finding the perfect fabric to compliment your other furniture, wall color, rugs or your artwork requires time and patience. Take your time; do not rush into making a quick selection. Settling on a fabric when it is not just right is never a good option.

Michael does exist. At 16 years old he apprenticed at an upholstery shop in Nevada where his mother was a seamstress. As a young man he moved to the Bay Area and worked in several different upholstery shops. Opening Michael's in San Rafael in 1983. He still enjoys the creative nature and the challenges of the business that confront him daily.

This bedroom was designed to counter balance traditional furnishings with contemporary items to give a modern edge to the home's Craftsman style architecture.
