Rock Soft Futon

What a great experience and what a great product! I figured that a futon sofa would be the best piece of furniture for my office/guest room, but I was worried that it would be uncomfortable. We ended up with a wall-hugger sofa, which is a solid, beautiful piece of wooden furniture that doesn't need to be moved away from the wall when you turn it into a bed, and a very comfortable futon with layers of foam, wool, and cotton.

We got a beautiful cover and coordinating pillows and a comforter at a great price. The guys in the store were really helpful and patient, and we paid to have it delivered and assembled, and they did a great job. I got a queen-size futon, so the back is a little higher than a normal couch, but it's so comfortable to sit on and lean against, and it's surprisingly comfortable to sleep on.

It is firm but not hard. It's very supportive and cushioning, and I had a great night's sleep on it. And, if the futon starts to get out of shape in the future, they'll refill it for a very reasonable cost! I'm really pleased and I highly recommend Rock Soft Futon.

We bought a futon sofa frame, wool mattress, and cover about a month ago and are in LOVE. I am a side sleeper and my spouse sleeps on his back. The mattress is so comfortable that when the time comes to replace the mattress on our bed, we will absolutely be buying from Rock Soft again! The owner is friendly and helpful. At no point were we followed by a sales rep around the floor or pressured to buy, which made the shopping experience the most pleasant experience I have had at a furniture store.

Unlike other furniture stores, we had multiple options for frames and all of the component pieces arrived within 2 weeks of ordering. Bonus: we were able to fit the frame and mattress into the back of my Prius with the back seats folded down.

You can't go wrong with supporting Rock Soft Futon. Jon and Jay are fantastic, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The showroom is great because most frames and mattresses are on display. I personally was able to look online to find the frame I liked and called in my order. Within a few days I was picking up my futon. They have a huge selection of covers and accessories. If you're in the market for a futon, I can't imagine shopping anywhere else. Jay and Jon are the best!

Felt at peace the moment I walked into the factory. I was given space to browse and envy the beautiful craftsmanship; before purchasing a tatami mat, tatami bed and shikibuton. Also the adorable side table is my favorite! Excellent, excellent, excellent!

We went here to get a futon and frame for our spare bedroom after checking out several options in Portland. They were great. Easy to work with and they had various price points to choose from. We've only used the futon as a sofa so far but it's very comfortable. We loved being able to shop local and get great service. Would definitely recommend and buy from again.

Excellent Service! The team is fabulous. I received my shikibutons 8 weeks ahead of schedule compared with any other company I researched. Every product I have purchased is high quality and made in house. I appreciate being able to support local while still enjoying impeccable product. The products are top notch and very fairly priced. John, the owner is a stand-up, terrific guy. He even went out of his way to help us adapt a bed frame we had bought two years ago to a new situation. If you need a futon bed, sofa or even just some floor cushions, I'd say come here to get them.

The people at Rock Soft Futon went above and beyond for me. I am disabled and they delivered the mattress to my apartment and took it up to the 4th floor which I could have never been able to do by myself with my back. They were very patient with my order ( I have speech problems) and very nice and polite. I felt like crying I was so happy to have a nice bed to help lessen my body pain.also my cat Boo loves it as well, great quality bed. It is like the Yo I had from Korea.

These guys were so kind, after a rough move I had no mattress and I went there the day after and they constructed one of these babies for me on the spot, and only took about 40 minutes. Great price, quality material and people who know what they're doing. This is a very cool local business with a history in the area. The team at Rock Soft and their futons are great. They went above and beyond getting us the futon and frame for a single before Christmas and also during last summer when stock was low. I so recommend the quality of their futons mattresses they make on site and frames (got both the queen and single Dillon with foot rest)

Over the last 10+ years I have bought 2 futons and 2 pieces of furniture from Rock Soft and couldn't be happier. I had an entry level futon and loved it and now have a higher end model that's perfect for my space. I also bought a tv stand and a custom built entry way bench/shoe rack, two pieces that I will use for a very long time.

We were about to purchase a shikibuton online but the shipping prices pushed us the over edge. Luckily we found out about Rock Soft Futon and their custom made futons and shikibutons. We opted for a wool and cotton one, aiming for 5. While it was a bit thicker and heavier than a traditional shikibuton, my partner had a wonderful night's sleep on it. The shopkeeper we worked with was amazingly quick and made the futon mattress on the spot. Took less than 30 minutes. Nice!

Staff were super nice. I went in for a shikibuton. They made me one on the spot in a color cover of my choosing. 100% cotton and handmade. Real quality stuff and affordable.

I love my new futon. Ordering was easy, it looks wonderful in my new space, and it was very affordable (and I got a premium futon!). I'm so glad I'm not going to be replacing this in a few years as they restuff futons, so I intend to have this for a very long time. John was super helpful as I'm a first-time futon owner, and Jay set it up quickly and expertly. Highly recommended.

We purchased two futons and frames for our home a few years back. After many years of use one of the frames was badly broken and could not be repaired. When we called rock soft to order a replacement piece we expected to pay for it but they gave us an entire new back piece free of charge! They were so great to work with and made the process easy. I came here last week in search of a futon for our new apartment. John was extremely friendly, and I got a good deal on an awesome futon. While the futon we got is not custom made, he does make plenty of custom pieces. Would recommend!

The owner crafts his own furniture-- not the Chinese slaves-- and I want to pay for that. He sold me a premium replacement futon cover to replace a torn one from the nineties and the sleek, rich texture was worth an extra 50 bucks at least, with the added convenience of 3 sided zipper opening for easy cleaning and rotating. Some innovative designs too.

A fantastic, locally owned company in Portland. After looking online, I stopped by Rock Soft Futons. I worked with John who was very friendly and great at listening to what I wanted and needed. John walked me through everything- set up and tear down as well. They even assemble! Came to my house personally to set it up and show me how it works. Great futon- soft, comfortable and very easy to lift and lower with one person. Aside from high quality futons, they make beautiful, custom shelves. Great prices too! It was so cool to see all the wood and tools he uses to build each piece by hand right there. Do not settle for a cheap, imported Chinese or Indonesian futon when you can buy a high quality, local and Made in the USA futons here! So glad I found this store.

We absolutely love our new futon! Great process from start to finish! So many options to chose from! If you want the best quality futon you have to go to Rock Soft Futon! They delivered it and got it all set up for us! As you can see, someone has already made himself comfortable!

I have purchased three futons from Rock Soft. The first two have been awesome. This newest one though smells weird. Like chemicals. It has never happened before. I purchased the futon in October and it still stinks in January. Three sets of sheets ruined- the smell does not wash out. I purchased a futon cover with the futon. It stinks too. I have written and got a response, then decided to wait and see if it disspated. It has not, and I wrote the company again a few days ago. I really wonder if it's the Premium that I bought. The other two are Deluxe and dont stink. HELP!

Pretty easy to order a mattress and its a nice quality one at a fair price. Nice levels of selection from basic to premium to wool and various firmness. Shop is small but everything is available to test. Usually takes 1-2 days to build at the warehouse. Warehouse guy was great. I brought my own cover and he put it on quickly, loaded it into my van wrapped in plastic and tied tight. Even gave me the rubber mats to use. No complaints at all. Located in the Hawthorne district with lots of cool food trucks around.

It's been 4 years since I got one of the best futons ever. And I have slept on it ever since despite that not being the plan. I seem to leave a divot in latex, temper pedicure, or spring; because I sleep in the same spot. Money you spend at rock soft makes us all richer. The owner Has done a lot of good work and I believe he does the right thing when it comes down to it. sooo walk in go meet him. Dont let this business die, while buying a far inferior product. Just bought an Ultra Edge mattress and frame from these guys. It's a good mattress, though I'm not used to sleeping on futons and my back hurts like a mofo. Nice to buy a locally made product, and I'm glad it has a lifetime warranty. Hope that's legit if something happens to the futon. Star gets docked for their customer service, though.

The lady working the store was entirely uninterested in helping customers or answering questions, seemed kinda irritated that we were in there, and didn't seem to know much about the products. Delivery wasn't available for about 10 days, and we needed a bed immediately, so we were going to try to get it home in our car, and ability to do so was a deciding factor in making the purchase.

When asked if the boxes for the unassembled futon frame would fit in a sedan, she was like "Oh yeah, totally, sure, people fit them in sedans all the time." When we went to pick up the frame, the guy working the warehouse was shocked to see us pull up in a sedan, because the frame box is. much bigger than a car. There is no way anyone has ever fit one of those boxes in a car. So we had to go rent a UHaul to get it home; goodbye $40, thanks for the bad info, Disaffected Storefront Lady.

I bought a futon and frame from here and paid to have it delivered about $620. About 1 year after purchase, the frame cracked. The frame is covered under the "limited warranty" to "be free from defects in workmanship and materials for life." While "replacement parts and labor are free of charge" the company expects the customer to bring the frame into the store.

If anyone has tried to move a queen futon frame by themselves you can imagine how awkward and difficult it is. This does not include the fact that futon frames do not fit in most cars. This is the exact reason I paid extra for delivery. Please update the policy on this and customers beware, make sure the company agrees before you buy to pick up the futon at their cost if it breaks.

I just bought a shikibuton full size futon from these folks. It's their most simple style futon and it was $200. I'm astounded at how comfortable this bed is, I wake up everyday feeling like I got the sleep I was meant to be having my entire life. The futon was made with care and is high quality. I have chronic back pain from a soccer injury 10 years ago.

I found that sleeping on a futon is ideal, vs and spring mattress or something from a mattress store. The futon's soft yet firm quality allows my back to relax into the cushion without getting into and unnatural position. I have been sleeping on futons for a couple years but never have experienced a futon of this comfort level. It's so soft yet supportive to my back and my shoulder when I sleep on my side.

I need to give credit to the employee that helped me choose this Mattress. His name is Mike and I hope anyone buying a futon at Rock Soft has the pleasure of meeting him. His knowledge of futons is solid and he was very kind and engaging when he helped me decide on the right bed.
